COUNTERING CRIMES IN THE FIELD OF INFORMATION AND TELECOMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AIMED AT THE ILLICIT TRAFFICKING OF PROHIBITED ITEMS AND SUBSTANCES

This paper examines the specific features of using information and telecommunication technologies (ITT) for the illicit trafficking of prohibited items and substances. It notes that the development of anonymous networks, cryptocurrencies, and darknet platforms has created new channels for the distribution of drugs, weapons, and counterfeit goods. Existing countermeasures are analyzed, including improvements to legislation, the use of innovative technologies, and international cooperation. Key challenges are identified, and approaches to improving the effectiveness of law enforcement practices are proposed. Particular attention is paid to difficulties in identifying offenders and protecting personal data. The paper emphasizes the need for specialist training and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the private sector.
