Abstract

The results of research on the simulation of three-dimensional thermal-hydraulic processes in the core of a VVER-1200 reactor, performed using the TRETON software package, are presented. The aim of the work was to determine the thermal-hydraulic characteristics of the VVER-1200 reactor to justify its thermal reliability in various operating modes, including operation at rated and increased power, as well as modes with reduced coolant flow. The simulation methodology is described, and the impact of various operating modes on the safety of the reactor unit is analyzed. The results demonstrate the thermal reliability of the reactor when the power is increased to 110%. Analysis of modes with the main circulation pumps (MCP) shut down revealed the need to reduce the power to maintain safe parameters. The research results confirm the effectiveness of the TRETON software package as a tool for comprehensive analysis of thermal-hydraulic processes in the VVER core, opening up prospects for optimizing operating modes and improving the safety of nuclear power plants.
