This article investigates the experiences of students of Russian State University named after I. M. Gubkin, in Tashkent, undertaking internships, provided by oil and gas industries. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, including surveys and one-on-one discussions, the study highlights several critical issues. While nearly half of the students are satisfied with the organization of their practice, many rate the quality as below average. A significant preference for conducting practices exclusively in Russian was noted. Financial support emerged as a crucial factor for most students. Additionally, there is a strong desire for mentoring to enhance learning. Alarmingly, all students reported a lack of opportunities to engage in real projects, and most found the provided resources insufficient. Consequently, the majority felt unprepared for professional activity post-internship. These findings underline the need for better managerial structures, sufficient resources, and meaningful project involvement to improve internship programs in the oil and gas sector.
