Leykoplakiya sirt epiteliysining turli darajadagi keratinizatsiyasi bilan tavsiflangan ixtiyoriy prekanseroz kasallikka ishora qiladi va leykoplakiyaning malign transformatsiya tezligi juda katta farq qiladi. Umuman olganda, yuqori ehtimollik darajasi bilan davolanmagan prekanseroz leykoplakiyaning tabiati malignite belgisi sifatida qaralishi mumkin.
