Ko'pgina tadqiqotchilar periodontning yalliglanish bilan kechuvchi kasalliklari va somatik patologiya, ayniqsa jigar kasalliklari bilan yaqin patogenetik aloqani tan oladilar. Jigarda safro doimiy ravishda hosil bo'lishini hisobga olsak, jigar va o't yo'llari tuzilmalarining muvofiqlashtirilgan o'zaro ta'siri gepatobiliar patologiyani tashxislash va davolashga umumiy yondashuvlarni belgilaydi. Og'iz bo'shlig'i va oshqozon-ichak trakti o'rtasidagi munosabatlar periodontal kasallikning rivojlanishiga moyil omil hisoblanadi. Surunkali gepatit bilan og'rigan bemorlarda kataral gingivitning tarqalishi sog'lom odamlarga qaraganda bir yarim baravar ko'p ekanligi aniqlangan
