Abstract

This article examines the linguistic and cultural features of German and Uzbek proverbs, focusing on translation challenges and issues of equivalence. Proverbs are analyzed as phraseological units characterized by imagery, rhythm, rhyme, and semantic stability. The study classifies synonymous proverbs in both languages based on various criteria and highlights their similarities and differences through examples. Special attention is given to translation strategies, including the use of calque when direct equivalents are absent.
