The paper examines the theoretical and methodological foundations for regulating the sustainable development of the food industry from a systems perspective. The industry is substantiated as a multifunctional structure formed at the intersection of economic, technological, environmental and social subsystems. The content of the categories “food product” and “food industry” is clarified, the classification of the raw material base is refined, and a conceptual regulation model comprising six factor groups is proposed.
