Afrika dramatik adabiyoti — bu jamiyat mahsuli bo‘lib, shu jamiyatning o‘zi ushbu ijodga turtki beradi va unga javob bo‘ladi. Shu boisdan, nigeriyalik dramaturglar, xususan, Vole Soyinka, o‘z atrof-muhitidagi yaqin va uzoq voqealardan ilhom olib dramatik asarlar yaratib kelishgan. Mazkur maqolada matn tahlili va adabiyot sharhi kabi sifatli yondashuv asosida postkolonial nazariya tamoyillari asosida Vole Soyinka qalamiga mansub “Sher va Marvarid” (“Le Lion et la Perle”) dramasi tahlil qilinadi. Mazkur asar ayrim tadqiqotchilar tomonidan madaniyat va mafkuraviy qarama-qarshiliklar nuqtai nazaridan baholangan. Asarning ijtimoiy-madaniy ahamiyati uni fransuz tiliga tarjima qilinishiga sabab bo‘lgan bo‘lishi mumkin. Ammo ushbu maqolada inglizcha nusxadan foydalaniladi, chunki ingliz tili adabiy munozaralarda kengroq qamrovga ega. Teoretik va tahliliy yondashuv asosida ushbu dramaga faqat madaniy va mafkuraviy qarama-qarshiliklar nuqtai nazaridan emas, balki obrazlar va syujet tahlili orqali yondashiladi. Zamonaviylikka madaniy javob sifatida an’anaviylik va zamonaviylikni uyg‘unlashtirish zarurligi ilgari suriladi.
