Abstract

The article explores the ideas of Aristotle, a prominent figure in Greek philosophy, alongside Ibn Rushd, a key representative of Eastern Peripateticism, concerning the concept of freedom. It delves into Aristotle's perspectives on innate slavery and innate freedom, examining his views within the philosophical, social, and political context of his era. The discussion then shifts to Ibn Rushd, emphasizing his critiques of his contemporaries' thoughts. In medieval philosophy, the notions of freedom and necessity are analyzed through the lens of the harmony between religious and philosophical views, with particular attention to the topics of fate and will. Additionally, the article presents comparative analyses of the interpretations by these two thinkers on the issue of free will.
