Abstract

Africa without doubt is blessed with abundant human and natural resources, yet, she is underdeveloped, poor and backward. There are a lot of factors responsible for this paradox. It is against this background that the paper discusses meaning, nature, features, the root causes and effects of underdevelopment of Africa. This crisis of underdevelopment in Africa and its attendant consequences really affect Africa’s quest for development. This paper addresses this problem of underdevelopment because it is presumed that Africa cannot make any headway without tackling or proffering solutions to this problem. Efforts are equally made to proffer some proposed solutions which will go a long way to solve this problem. The paper therefore concludes that if all the suggested solutions are strictly adhered to, Africa will develop and join the league of advanced Nations.
