MODERNIZATION OF THE SOUTH MIRZACHUL MAIN CANAL

This article investigates the current condition of the lower section of the South Mirzachul Main Canal and proposes a modernization strategy aimed at enhancing the existing water intake scheme. The proposed improvements allow for a reduction in the number of hydroposts, strengthen monitoring and control mechanisms, and ultimately increase the canal’s operational efficiency and performance coefficient. In this region, the number of water intake points has exceeded the originally designed level, resulting in increased water losses, intensified sediment deposition, and a noticeable decline in overall canal performance. The study further examines the economic benefits of modernization, the potential enhancement of the canal’s water-conveyance capacity, and key aspects of water discharge management and monitoring.
