Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive analysis of modern intervention methods aimed at solving speech development problems in children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), their scientific and theoretical foundations, as well as the importance of interdisciplinary approaches. Delayed speech development, impaired expressive and receptive language, limited social communication, and difficulty communicating through speech are common among children with autism spectrum disorders, making it difficult for them to fully participate in everyday life. The article primarily discusses the impact of autism spectrum disorders on speech development, the neurological and psychological foundations of this, as well as the advantages of early detection and diagnosis methods. It also provides detailed information on the effectiveness of modern intervention approaches that have become widely used in recent years, such as naturalistic behavioral interventions, visual support tools (PECS, visual charts and diagrams), functional speech stimulation, sensory integration approaches, and technological tools (mobile apps, computer programs, artificial intelligence- based platforms). The success of speech interventions often depends on an interdisciplinary approach, and the article focuses on the role and potential of this approach. In particular, the effectiveness of therapeutic activities based on close collaboration between speech therapists, defectologists, psychologists, neurologists, educators, nurses, and parents will be illustrated with examples. The multidisciplinary approach allows for the creation of an individualized rehabilitation program for each child, providing balanced support for speech, emotional, social, and cognitive development. The article also addresses current issues such as the challenges encountered in working with children with autism spectrum disorders in Uzbekistan, the shortage of specialists, delays in early diagnosis, the lack of widespread implementation of modern therapeutic methods, and the low level of knowledge among parents. Based on this, the authors develop scientific and practical proposals, emphasizing the need for systemic reforms and innovative approaches. The article serves as a practical guide for speech therapists, defectologists, psychologists, special education teachers, medical professionals, and parents. It can also be considered an important resource for adapting advanced international experience in supporting speech development in children with autism spectrum disorders to the national context.
