COVID-19 пандемияси глобал соғлиқни сақлаш тизимига, айниқса олдиндан мавжуд касалликлари бор беморларга катта таъсир кўрсатди. Ушбу шарҳ COVID-19 да коморбидликлар ва касалликнинг ривожланиши ўртасидаги ўзаро боғлиқликни ўрганади, буйрак ва ўпка шикастланишига эътибор қаратади. Ўткир буйрак етишмовчилиги (ЎБЕ) ва ўткир нафас етишмовчилиги синдроми (ОРДС) айниқса сурункали буйрак касаллиги (СБК) бўлган беморларда жиддий асоратлардир. Шарҳда замонавий даволаш усуллари, жумладан буйракни ўрнини босувчи терапия (БЎТ) ва узлуксиз буйракни ўрнини босувчи терапия (УБЎТ) кабилар кўрсатилиб, оғир ҳолатларда натижаларни яхшилаганлиги таъкидланади. Даволаш стратегияларини янада такомиллаштириш ва беморларнинг соғлиқ натижаларини яхшилаш учун қўшимча тадқиқотлар талаб қилинади.
