Принципы диагностики глаукомы основаны на триаде симптомов - превышении ВГД над толерантным уровнем, изменениях в поле зрения, в первую очередь в зоне Бьеррума, а также на глаукоматозной выемке головки зрительного нерва. Следует признать, что уровень ВГД является единственным доказанным фактором риска прогрессирования глаукомной атрофии зрительного нерва и, в то же время, единственным фактором, на который мы можем повлиять. Именно поэтому определение ВГД имеет большое значение в диагностике и является основой для оценки эффективности лечения глаукомы.
