Abstract

This article examines the pedagogical potential of developing future preschool teachers’ creative competencies through oral folk art. The study clarifies the content and structural components of creative competence and identifies relevant criteria and indicators. Particular attention is paid to fairy tales, proverbs, sayings, riddles, tongue twisters, epics, legends, folk songs, and traditional games as resources for developing creative thinking, pedagogical imagination, communicative creativity, and methodological flexibility. The article proposes methodological approaches for integrating folklore materials into professional training, organizing creative tasks, problem-based pedagogical situations, role-playing and didactic games, and reflective activities. A pedagogical model for developing creative competence is proposed, consisting of target, content, process, and result components. The findings indicate that purposeful and systematic use of oral folk art can create effective pedagogical conditions for developing independent thinking, initiative, speech creativity, pedagogical imagination, and methodological creativity among future preschool teachers.
