MISINTERPRETATION OF SCIENTIFIC INDICATORS AND RELIABILITY OF INFORMATION IN LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEMS
Abstract
This paper explores the distortion of scientometric indicators commonly used to evaluate scientific activity and examines how their misinterpretation affects the objectivity of research outcomes. Within the context of library and information systems, the study analyzes delays and artifacts that arise from relying on these metrics for the evaluation and presentation of information resources. Special focus is given to methodological issues associated with the Hirsch index and the need for alternative assessment tools. The paper concludes with recommendations aimed at ensuring objectivity and reliability in the dissemination and evaluation of scientific knowledge.
