O'tkir sinusit insonning eng keng tarqalgan kasalliklaridan biri bo'lib, bu muammo yildan-yilga dolzarb bo'lib bormoqda. Yangi dalillarga asoslangan tadqiqotlar va meta-tahlillar natijalariga asoslanib, Evropa va AQShda muntazam ravishda paydo bo'ladigan turli xil konsensus hujjatlari sonining ko'payishi shundan dalolat beradi. Shu bilan birga, kasallanish mezonlari va rinosinusitni tashxislash va davolash algoritmlari har bir mamlakatda sezilarli darajada farq qiladi, surunkali rinosinusit (CRS) o'tkir rinosinusitga (ARS)qaraganda ko'proq farq qiladi.
