Abstract

Purpose: to develop effective integral characteristics for assessing the length of the esophagus based on anthropometric indicators, taking into account gender. Materials and methods of research: The data arrays of 282 patients who underwent endoscopic examination and 154 patients who underwent hiatal hernia surgery were used.  To enter the initial data into a computer for the purpose of their subsequent statistical processing, a special coding examination card for patients was developed, including 4 anthropometric indicators related to the outcome and course of the disease. Statistical processing of the data set formed in this way made it possible to identify the most informative indicators that served as the basis for constructing nonlinear integral characteristics. Results: calculations were performed on an IBM Pentium-type personal computer using a set of STATISTICA-10 statistical software. The values of the coefficient of determination indicate the high efficiency of the obtained models. These equations, based on the "rapid assessment of the length of the esophagus based on anthropometric indicators taking into account gender" (eodp-APUG. exe), became the basis for the development of a software tool for which the patent office of the Republic of Uzbekistan DGU No. 20419 was issued. The introduction of the gender and anthropometric parameters of patients into the computer formula based on this program gives us a preliminary calculation of the length of the esophagus that we can obtain. Conclusion: Based on the developed program, it became possible to identify patients with a true short esophagus, which made it possible to increase the number of cases of laparoscopic operations.
