Abstract

The aim of the study is to improve the treatment of ventral hernias in patients with morbid obesity by optimizing the choice of hernioplasty method and improving preoperative preparation. The study included 121 patients operated on in the surgical department of the 1st clinic of SamSMU between 2012 and 2021. The use of improved pneumatic bandage improved preoperative preparation, reducing the risk of intra-abdominal hypertension after hernioplasty and accelerating recovery. The frequency of postoperative extra-abdominal complications decreased from 7.4% to 4.5%, and the overall frequency of complications decreased from 14.8% to 8.9% (p=0.045). The time for surgery and rehabilitation after hernio- and abdominoplasty has also been reduced.
