Abstract

Preeclampsia is one of the most severe complications in obstetrics, determining high rates of maternal morbidity and mortality. It continues to be a dangerous condition for the fetus, leading to delayed intrauterine development, premature births, low birth weight and perinatal mortality.  There are many hypotheses of this complication in pregnancy, of which the most relevant is the theory that preeclampsia is a multifactorial disease in the development of which many genetic and environmental factors are involved.
