Abstract

The article presents a comparative analysis of microbial contamination and the dynamics of contamination in non-gunshot soft tissue wounds using a new method of primary wound management. The aim of this study was to compare microbial contamination levels, contamination dynamics, and treatment outcomes depending on the applied method of primary care, including the use of the proposed technique for managing non-gunshot soft tissue wounds. In the main group, the proposed wound management method was applied in multiple stages: at the pre-hospital stage, during surgical debridement, and in the postoperative period. Stepwise microbiological monitoring was performed (before surgery, during surgery, on days 2–3 and 4–5 after surgery). The results demonstrated a statistically significant reduction in the frequency of microbial growth in the main group: during surgery – 28.1% versus 72.1% (χ²=35.095; p<0.001); on days 2–3 – 12.5% versus 46.5% (χ²=25.713; p<0.001); on days 4–5 – 5.2% versus 22.1% (χ²=11.297; p<0.001). A more pronounced reduction in bacterial load and an increase in the proportion of sterile cultures were observed, confirming the effectiveness of the proposed method in preventing wound infections.
