AL-FARABI: PHILOSOPHY, ETHICS AND POLITICAL THOUGHT

This article analyzes the philosophical, ethical, and political views of Al-Farabi, one of the greatest thinkers of the Middle Ages. It examines the influence of ancient philosophy on his teachings, his concept of reason and knowledge, as well as his ideas on virtue and the ideal state. Special attention is given to his work “The Virtuous City”, in which the philosopher describes a model of an ideal society. The article also explores the impact of his ideas on later philosophers in both the Islamic and Western worlds.
