VIOLENCE AS A SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL PHENOMENON OF OUR TIME

The article is devoted to the results of a theoretical approach to understanding violence as
a sociocultural phenomenon. The definitions of the concept of violence have been studied. The
sociological and psychological approaches to the study of violence existing in modern sociology are
analyzed: the theory of social learning, symbolic interactionism, structural theory, theory of control,
etc. Psychological approaches such as the theory of frustration-aggression, aggressive behavior
associated with socio-biological characteristics of a person, socio-cognitive theory, etc. are analyzed.
The approaches of scientists to the interpretation of the concept of "violence", the mechanisms and
patterns of violence as a form of people's attitudes towards each other are highlighted. Through the
study of theoretical aspects, socio-psychological approaches, an attempt is made to reveal the essence
of the phenomenon of violence.
