INFORMATION SECURITY IN UZBEKISTAN: CHALLENGES OF FAKE NEWS AND INTERNATIONAL EXPERIENCE IN COMBATING THEM

Abstract

This article examines the issues of fake news dissemination in Uzbekistan amidst the rapid development of digital technologies and the globalization of the information space. The influence of disinformation on public consciousness, the economy, and political processes is analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the causes of fake news, their spread through social networks and online publications, as well as the insufficient level of media literacy among the population. The article presents international practices in combating fake news, such as legislative measures in France and Russia, the use of technologies in China, and educational initiatives in the United Kingdom. The potential application of these approaches in Uzbekistan is considered, taking into account the country's national characteristics. The article provides specific recommendations for enhancing media literacy, developing fact-checking mechanisms, supporting technological startups, and improving the legislative framework. The authors emphasize the need for a comprehensive approach to solving the problem, including legal, educational, and technological measures. Implementing the proposed strategies will enable Uzbekistan to strengthen information security and create a stable media environment that supports the development of civil society.
