SPORT AS A SOCIAL PHENOMENON

This article examines sport as the main socio-cultural phenomenon in the life of modern man, its tasks, functions and historical formation. Its role in the course of human development and in the modern world is determined. Physical education and sports represent subjective aspects of people’s lives and therefore are an integral part of the formation of a healthy lifestyle for each person individually and for society as a whole. The goals and content, means and forms, distribution and effectiveness of physical culture and sports should be considered in connection with the external environment, everyday life, nutrition, age and gender.
