IMPROVING THE SOCIAL PROTECTION SYSTEM: FROM A SOCIAL TO A BIOPSYCHOSOCIAL MODEL OF DISABILITY

Abstract

This article presents a theoretical analysis of the phenomenon of disability from the perspective of a biopsychosocial approach, focusing on the classical and modern concepts of sociological thought of J.Hoffman, E.Durkheim, T.Parsons, M.Fuko, N.Luman. Taking into account the increased relevance of the topic of disability, paying attention to the various approaches of foreign researchers to this phenomenon, the author proposes to shift the focus and consider current trends in the study of disability from the medical-social to the biopsychosocial model. The article substantiates the concept of a biopsychosocial model of disability, based on interdisciplinarity and reflecting the peculiarities of the development of each individual. The article substantiates the process of transition from the social biopsychosocial concept of disability in accordance with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
