ELDERLY AND EARLY AGING AS A SOCIOGERONTOLOGICAL PROBLEM

This article discusses the main issues of gerontology and sociogerotology such as elderly, aging, features of the elderly, early (accelerated) aging and factors affecting early aging. It contains the process of population aging that arose as a result of demographic changes in developed countries at the end of the twentieth century, the causes, types of aging, physiological and social factors of premature aging, diagnostic criteria for premature (accelerated) aging, classification of risk factors for premature aging, common diseases of older people in developed and developing countries, methods and solutions for the prevention of premature aging paid more attention. Also, on the basis of available statistical data, the age demographic composition of the population, trends and factors of its change are revealed, and forecasts of the average life expectancy of the population are analyzed.
