Abstract

This article is dedicated to the memory of Academician Rano Akhatovna Ubaydullaeva - a scholar, educator, mentor, and one of the founders of the national school of public opinion sociology. The article presents the author’s personal recollections of Rano Akhatovna, highlighting her role not only as a prominent researcher and leader but also as a person who knew how to listen and truly hear others, offer support, respect individual dignity, and - through her own example - instill a high standard of professional dedication.

Particular attention is paid to the Academician’s scholarly career and her interest in issues regarding labor, the status of women, demography, human resources, and public opinion. The article traces the development of her conviction that one must see the real person behind statistical data and take into account their actual life circumstances, problems, and needs. The significance of Rano Akhatovna’s scientific legacy for the development of applied sociology and the feedback mechanism between the state and society is examined within the context of the work of the "Ijtimoiy Fikr" Republican Center for Public Opinion Study, where her ideas continue to be put into practice.
