THE PLACE AND ROLE OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS IN SOCIAL WORK

Professional ethics forms the basis for establishing rules governing human behavior in situations arising in connection with a specific social or professional role. This article examines the concept of professional ethics and its role in social work. The main ethical principles of social worker practice, the specific features of professional ethics in social work, the moral responsibility of specialists in the social sphere, as well as the impact of professional ethics on the quality of social assistance and the protection of clients’ rights are analyzed. It is revealed that ethical principles of social work act as fundamental components of social workers’ activities. Special attention is given to the humanistic orientation of social work, issues of confidentiality, respect for human dignity, and the professional competence of the specialist.
