GENDER EQUALITY IN PUBLIC AND POLITICAL LIFE

Full and real equality between men and women is a vital element of the democratic society based on the rule of law. Equal opportunities for the full and equal participation of men and women are necessary for the sustaianble development of society and the improvement of the well-being of all its members. The providing and utilizing of equal rights and opportunities by women are important for the consolidation of peace and democracy in the country.
Especially in the current era of globalization, the protection of women's rights, freedoms and legal interests has become increasingly important. In particular, increasing the social, economic, political, and legal activity of women is an essential requirement of the time.
But despite of this, this problem is quite topical for the most countries in the world.
A comparative analysis and reflection on the progress made and identification of some of the outstanding problems in achieving gender equality in the political sphere has been provided.

The Republic of Uzbekistan joined the Convention in accordance with the Resolution of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan On Joining of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, that was adopted in New York on December 18, 1979, No 87-I of May 18, 1995. It is enacted for the Republic of Uzbekistan on August 18, 1995.
