The essence of linguistic pictures of the world, the sources of their formation, functions and classification are considered. The differences between conceptual and linguistic pictures of the world are presented, taking into account the characteristics of their carriers. In this work, an attempt was made to conduct a comparative analysis of the gender characteristics of the linguistic pictures of the world on the material of the texts of works of art by Russian-speaking and English-speaking authors, differing from each other in genre, time and writing style.
