ANALYSIS OF THE RISK OF STROKE DURING PREGNANCY
Keywords:
stroke, pregnancy, risk factors, cardiovascular diseases, thrombophilia, antiphospholipid syndromeAbstract
Stroke is a life—threatening condition. It overtakes suddenly, and pregnancy is the time when the risk of stroke increases by 3 times. The most dangerous period is the last trimester of pregnancy. Pregnancy as a condition increases the risks of vascular pathologies, diabetes, hypertension (hypertension). Pregnancy is accompanied by an increased risk of both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke. Strokes are the cause of up to 12% of maternal deaths.
Pregnancy is known to increase the risk of stroke for a number of reasons, including: increased blood pressure (chronic hypertension, gestational hypertension, preeclampsia, eclampsia), as well as renal failure, HELLP syndrome (complication of third trimester gestosis), changes in blood clotting during pregnancy and in the postpartum periods, persistent severe vomiting, which can lead to dehydration, which causes an increase in the concentration of cells and clots in the blood and changes in the vessels of the brain. Caution should always be exercised when any neurological symptoms occur; studies are conducted to the same extent as in non-pregnant women, taking into account pregnancy-specific complications.
