CHD among diseases of the oral mucosa ranks 3rd (5.3%) after candidiasis (65.65%) and leukoplakia (16.16%) (Ceballos-Salobrena A., Aguirre-Urizar J., Bagan-Sebastian J.., 1996).
A.A. Britova (2000), R. Farthling, R. Maragou et al. (1995), PA Reichart (2000) identified isolated lesions of the oral mucosa in 31.7% of cases and combined lesions of the oral mucosa and skin in 20% of cases.
Herpetic infection caused by HSV occurs in all countries and different climatic and geographical zones, the frequency of which varies widely depending on population groups with different living standards (Prober Ch.B. et al., 1992; Kleinman DV et al., 1993).
In most countries of the world there is no mandatory registration of this pathology, therefore, the actual frequency of distribution remains unknown (Kuzmin VN et al., 1999; Randolph AG, Washington A.E., Prober SN, 1993).
There are scientific publications in the literature that more intensive and early transmission of herpes virus infection is facilitated by population crowding and early placement of young children in preschool institutions (Grigoryan S.S. et al., 1988; Prober Ch.B. et al., 1992).
In recent years, there has been a tendency to increase the incidence of children with acute herpetic stomatitis. The prevalence of this disease in children under 3 years of age is 70% (Mikhailovskaya V.P., 1990, 1998; Kolomiets A.G., 1997; Strakhova S.Yu., 2000), which indicates a socially significant problem of this disease.
In the countries of Western CHD, it occurs in 19-55.3% of the population (Reznik D., O'Daniels S.M., 2001), and as an isolated lesion of the oral mucosa, for example, herpes labialis, manifests itself in 27.4% of cases (Stock C., Guillen-Grima F. et al., 2001) In the presence of secondary immunodeficiency conditions, the prevalence of herpes infection is 2% (Patton LL, McKaig R. et al., 2000).
According to V. Knaup, S. Schunemann, MN WolfF (2000), when examining 83 seropositive patients, asymptomatic reactivation was observed in 68% of cases, and a relapse of herpes infection occurred in 32%.
The prevalence of CHD among homosexual men reaches 60% (Pauk J., Huang ML, Brodie SJ. et al., 2000).
