Abstract

The article addresses the pressing issue of illegal cryptocurrency mining, analyzing its impact on the economy, security, and public trust. In recent decades, cryptocurrencies and mining have gained popularity due to market growth, technological advancements, and interest in decentralized financial services. However, with increasing popularity come risks associated with illegal mining. Illegal mining involves using unauthorized computational resources for cryptocurrency extraction, posing serious threats. The main forms of illegal mining include cryptojacking, unauthorized cloud mining, and exploitation of corporate and public resources. These activities lead to financial losses, data security threats, disruption of critical systems, and erosion of public trust in cryptocurrencies. The article explores the reasons for the proliferation of illegal mining, including high cryptocurrency profitability, anonymity, low user awareness, and technological accessibility. It also presents examples of high-profile illegal mining cases, such as attacks through malicious software and corporate server breaches. Effective resolution of the problem requires collaborative efforts from governments, businesses, and society to establish strict regulatory norms, enhance system protection measures, and raise awareness. The goal is to create conditions where illegal mining becomes economically unfeasible and technically challenging, thereby reducing its spread and negative impact on society and the economy.
