ORGANIZATIONAL AND LEGAL ISSUES OF ENFORCING THE SENTENCE OF CORRECTIONAL LABOR AND MEASURES TO INCREASE ITS EFFECTIVENESS

ANNOTATION
This article analyzes the legal nature of the sentence of correctional labor in Uzbekistan and the practice of its enforcement by probation authorities. Based on judicial statistics, it shows that the use of this punishment has been increasing and that the workload of the probation service has grown accordingly. As the main problem, the article highlights obstacles to employing convicted persons (a limited number of jobs, employers’ lack of interest, and the absence of adequate conditions in remote areas). To address these issues, it proposes introducing incentives for enterprises, creating an enforcement mechanism suitable for self-employed persons, and, in certain cases, establishing in legislation the possibility for offenders to work in another area.
