COMBATING CYBERCRIME - SINGAPORE'S EXPERIENCE

Abstract

In this research article, the author examines and comprehensively studies the comprehensive measures implemented by the Government of Singapore, which has advanced experience in combating cybercrimes related to money laundering. In particular, the paper covers the historical aspects of the fight against cybercrime in Singapore since 2013, the creation of a special structure in the Singapore police - the Center for Combating Fraudulent Crimes Committed Using the Internet and Telecommunications, its activities in the prevention of such crimes, the implementation of counteraction to the most common forms of cyber fraud, including the use of information technology to steal electronic funds (Phishing using SMS messages, phone calls or malicious links to obtain bank card data, fraud in the selection of employees online, when making purchases in the process of Internet trading, fraud with online lending with false advertising from licensed lenders or banks, fraud using popular online games with sending victims SMS messages about winnings in games advertised on social networks, etc.). Based on the results of the analysis, the author gives proposals and recommendations on the prospects for implementing the experience of Singapore in national legislation and law enforcement practice.
