DESCRIPTION OF TOPONYMIC TERMS AND CONCEPTS

Abstract

ABSTRACT

This article analyzes terms and concepts related to the field of toponomics. Also, as a result of observations related to the lexical-semantic analysis of toponyms of Koshrabot district of Samarkand region, several signs of distinguishing toponyms are based. It was discussed that toponyms are an integral element of the development of humanity and society, and the terms were explained. In addition, in order to determine the lexical composition of the toponymy of Koshrabot district, the types of toponyms and their functional features, the article classified the toponyms of the area into groups according to the name of the object. From the linguistic point of view, it has been studied that toponyms are first of all the words and nouns in the language, they express the layers of a whole language and reflect the history of its emergence and development. The status of geographic names as a lexical element, a linguistic category makes them subject to the laws of language, and the conclusions that toponymy researches the origin, evolution, and causes of change of geographic names are explained.
