EPOS AND NOVEL: LITERARY-ARTISTIC CONNECTIONS

The article discusses the connections between one of the oldest epic genres, epos (epopeia), and the novel of the new era. It has been scientifically and theoretically shown that the artistic-poetic structure of the epic, the system of images in it, and the composition of the plot are an important source for the emergence and formation of the novel genre.
