Proverbs are clots of folk wisdom that express the truth, verified by the centuries-old history of the people and the experience of many generations. The work, based on archival data, examines in detail the history of the study of proverbs, their origin and development.
The relevance of this topic is as follows: proverbs and sayings, being an integral part of the language, reflect the culture, identity, and basic values of the people. Consequently, studying the origin and development of proverbs helps to gain a deeper understanding of Russian culture, way of life and the life of the people.
