CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF ORAL HISTORY

This article provides information about the emergence and development of oral history, the improvement of the oral history method, the Columbia Oral History Research Center, and the International Oral History Association. The article reveals the contribution of Columbia University professor Allan Nevins to the creation of the oral history method. It also describes the methods of oral history research, its stages, the main rules of interviewing and the requirements for the respondent.
