This article analyzes the step-by-step formation of the organizational and legal foundations of environmental policy in Uzbekistan after independence. It examines constitutional provisions and key legislative acts regulating environmental protection, rational use of water and land resources, air protection, waste management, environmental expertise, and environmental control. The issues of determining the priority areas of state policy in the field of environmental protection in the conditions of New Uzbekistan, the prevention of violations of legislation in the field of nature protection, the introduction of effective mechanisms for their detection and prevention, and strengthening the personal responsibility of state bodies, heads of economic entities and citizens for the sanitary and ecological condition of the republic's settlements are also covered.
