ANCIENT KHOREZM: ANALYSIS OF HISTORICAL SOURCES AND SCIENTIFIC INTERPRETATIONS

This article analyzes the ancient history of the Khorezm oasis, the origin of its name, and the processes of its historical-geographical and ethno-cultural formation. Based on a comparative approach, the study examines information from the Avesta as well as Eastern and Western sources, including Arab, Persian, Greek, and Chinese authors. Special attention is given to archaeological sites, ancient fortresses, and cultural layers that illustrate the stages of transition from primitive society to urban statehood. The article also explores the influence of natural factors and religious beliefs, particularly Zoroastrianism, on the worldview of the population. The research findings contribute to identifying the role of Khorezm in the development of Central Asian civilizations.
