The services of the first President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Islam Karimov, in transforming the city of Karshi, which has a history of 2,700 years, into a modern city are incomparable. Islam Karimov served as the First Secretary of the Kashkadarya Regional Party Committee from 1986 to 1989. This article will discuss Islam Karimov’s services to the comprehensive development of cities and districts in the region, in particular the city of Karshi, during his leadership of Kashkadarya.
