Abstract

This article conceptually elaborates the problem of ‘soft power’ and its manifestations in the Central Asian context. Normative, geopolitical and informational dimensions of soft power were shown, which together or individually create environment of cooperation or contestation between objects, subjects and carriers of soft power. As a whole, as was believed before, being the product of the power politics, soft power is used for promotion of national interests of great powers; however, ordinary states which do not pursue great power policy also can accumulate their own arsenal of soft power.
