Abstract

Immunohistochemistry is a valuable modern, but currently little-studied method for diagnosing carcinogenesis of thyroid nodules. The article discusses such immunohistochemical markers used in the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of thyroid nodules as galectin-3, HBME-1, CK-19, TPO, CD-10. Galectin-3 has high sensitivity (from 73%) and specificity (from 81.8%). HBME-1 has higher sensitivity (94%) but lower sensitivity (77.8%) than galectin-3. CK19 is detected not only in papillary cancer, but also in follicular adenomas, and with an expression level of more than 75%, the sensitivity is 77%, and the specificity reaches 100%. Combining IGM in one panel improves sensitivity and specificity.
