DIABETES MELLITUS IN THE REPUBLIC OF KARAKALPAKSTAN IN 2022

Objective. Studying the prevalence of diabetes mellitus (DM) is necessary to assess the epidemiological situation in the region
Aim. To study the prevalence of DM in the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
Methods. The source of information was the data of the statistics office of the branch of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center for Endocrinology named after academician Y.Kh.Turakulov of the Republic of Karakalpakstan for the period 2018-2022. For the statistical processing of the data, the Microsoft Excel 2010 program was used.
Results. In the Republic of Karakalpakstan 16,033 patients with DM are registered, which is an average of 1.26% of the adult population, the estimated prevalence of DM in Karakalpakstan exceeds the registered 5 times, in Karakalpakstan 810 patients with type 1 diabetes are registered, including 532 adults, 213 children, 65 adolescents. In 2022, the number of registered patients with type 2 diabetes was 15,223. The largest number of patients with type 2 diabetes is in Ellikkala district
– 96.9%, the smallest number is in Kegeyli district 92.8%.
Conclusion. Analysis of the situation with diabetes mellitus in the Refublik Karakalpakstan showed that, like throughout the Republic of Uzbekistan, there is a late diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus, that is, not all patients are registered.
