Endotelial disfunktsiya ko'plab kasalliklar va holatlar, jumladan, yangi koronavirus infektsiyasi COVID-19 va post-Covid sindromining faol bosqichida rivojlanishida muhim rol o'ynaydi. Endotelial disfunktsiya bilan bog'liq bo'lgan va mikrosirkulyatsiya tizimining, shu jumladan endotelitning keng miqyosli shikastlanishi bilan tavsiflangan tizimli angiopatiya COVID-19 ga xos bo'lgan ma'lum morfologik ko'rinishlarga ega. SARS-CoV-2 virusi nafas yo'llarining shilliq qavatidagi goblet hujayralariga hujum qiladi. COVID-19 diffuz alveolyar shikastlanish orqali rivojlanadi, bu gialin membrana shakllanishiga va o'pka shishiga olib keladi. Nafas olish yo'llarining bunday shikastlanishi SARS-CoV-2 virusining alveolyar epiteliya hujayralari va endotelial hujayralarga ta'siri, shuningdek immunologik ta'sirlar, jumladan perivaskulyar yallig'lanish tufayli yuzaga keladi. Bu omillarning barchasi birgalikda endotelial-epitelial to'siqning buzilishiga va oqsil ekssudatining alveolyar bo'shliqqa kirib borishiga olib keladi, bakterial va qo'ziqorin florasi uchun fon yaratadi.
