ASSESSMENT OF THE FUNCTIONAL STATE OF THE MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM IN CHILDREN WITH CEREBRAL PALSY

Cerebral palsy is a condition characterized by non-progressive motor, cognitive, and speech impairments caused by damage to the nervous system during the pre- or perinatal period. Movement is a complex process resulting from the coordination of various parts of the pyramidal, extrapyramidal, and coordinative systems of the body. If structural or functional changes occur in any of these systems, the functioning of the others is inevitably affected. As a result, the integrity of motor activity is partially or completely lost.
The results of numerous experimental and clinical studies confirm that children with cerebral palsy exhibit impairments in motor control systems and proportional postural maintenance. The clinical presentation of cerebral palsy is diverse. Overall, motor system disorders are observed in 85% of patients.
