Abstract

Thyroid nodules are often detected by ultrasound of the neck. Most nodules are benign; therefore, many nodes are biopsied to identify the small number of nodes that are malignant or require surgery for definitive diagnosis.

Methodology for revealing the research problem. 157 patients with thyroid nodules were examined. Of the 157 patients, there were 91 men, 66 women. The patients were divided into 4 groups:

Research results. The analysis showed that hypothyroidism was observed in 57 (36.3%) patients, hyperthyroidism – in 51 (33.5%) and euthyroidism – in 49 (31.2%) patients.
