Titanium dioxide (TiO2) is used as a dietary supplement (E171) and can be found in sauces, icings and chewing gums, as well as personal care products such as toothpaste and pharmaceutical tablets. The identified toxic effects of TiO2 NPs indicate a potential risk to human health.
